Abuela Meche laughing in her kitchen

Hola, corazón.

For thirty years I sold tamales from my kitchen in San Antonio, every Saturday. That's how I learned what a pot of beans really costs, and every way rice can go wrong.

I wrote it all on cards and kept them in a dented tin box. My granddaughter Sofi was afraid they would get lost, so she typed them up. Now they're yours.

Con cariño, Meche

Bonus

Print them for your own recipe box

All 50 cards come as one-sided 4x6 cards. Print on index cards or photo paper, or use the Letter-size version — two cards per page with dashed cut lines.

Questions

Is this a printed book?

No, it's a digital download (PDF). Nothing is shipped. You can read it on any phone, tablet or computer, or print it at home.

I don't live in the US. Will the recipes work?

Yes. Every temperature is also in Celsius, and two pages cover grams, metric cups (including the 20 ml Australian tablespoon) and what ingredients are called in the UK, Australia and Canada.

Do I need special equipment?

Mostly no: pots, pans and a blender. A few cards use a comal (a heavy skillet works), a tortilla press or a steamer pot for tamales.

What is the Complete Box?

It's coming soon: all 200 cards from my box, 14 more chapters and 5 bonuses. It isn't for sale yet.
